The teen compass
Teens compass
All students filled in a teen compass where we had to think about how we live our lives. The results became a compass that showed which parts of your life that you have been paying most attention to lately. There were different categories like spirituality, care for the body, relationships, emotions and rest & play.
The results were actually very different depending on the country. But the Swedish results were pretty similar. Most Swedes rated school & work very high but rest and play very low. Care for the body was also pretty high rated but spirituality was low. I think that it’s good that most Swedes think that care for the body is important, it means that we probably will grow up healthy. It’s also good that people take school and work seriously but it’s important that it doesn’t go too far. It’s not healthy to study or work a lot if you never have time to rest and since “rest and play” were rated so low, it’s a bit worrying. I think it’s important that everyone think more about their mental health and less about work achievements. In the future, young people’s mental health will probably be an very big issue if we don’t learn to balance everything in life better. Because I think that that’s the most important thing. That we learn to balance everything important in life so nothing “takes over” and make us give up other things that we value.
